MLBPA remembers Phil Garner

The Players Association pauses to remember the life and contributions of Phil Garner, who died Saturday at age 76 at his home in Houston.

Phil immersed himself in the union as a young Player with the Athletics and Pirates in the 1970s, and his commitment never wavered. In December, despite ongoing health issues, Phil traveled to Arizona to appear on a panel of retired Players at the MLBPA's Executive Board meeting. He was intent on sharing his personal story in hopes of inspiring and unifying the current generation of Players.

As we mourn Phil's passing, please join us in expressing our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
